FIVE GENERATIONS OF RANCHING HERITAGE.
Larson Ranch is a fifth-generation family ranch located in the rolling prairie and river breaks of south-central South Dakota.
Since the original homestead was established in 1909, the Larson family has been dedicated to building a ranch that balances productive agriculture with conservation of the land and wildlife.
For more than a century, the Larson family has stewarded a remarkable South Dakota ranch, building a legacy rooted in hard work, faith, and a deep respect for the natural world. Established in 1909 as a homestead on the open prairie, Larson Ranch has grown into a thriving, multi-generational operation where tradition and innovation work hand in hand. Today, the ranch is proudly managed by third- and fourth-generation family members, with the next generation already preparing to carry that legacy forward.
At its core, Larson Ranch is a working cattle and horse breeding operation known for its commitment to quality livestock and progressive land management. The family has continually embraced new technologies while honoring time-tested practices, producing high-quality cattle and registered Quarter Horses that reflect decades of careful breeding and stewardship.
But Larson Ranch is more than an agricultural enterprise. It is a place meant to be shared. Over the years, visitors from across the United States and around the world have come to experience the ranch’s wide-open spaces and abundant wildlife. Guests are welcomed to hunt, fish, camp, ride horseback, and capture the landscape through photography, all while experiencing the authentic rhythms of ranch life.
Guided by an award-winning conservation ethic, the Larson family has long believed that caring for the land today ensures opportunity for generations to come. Their approach reflects a commitment not only to agriculture, but to preserving habitat, fostering wildlife, and creating meaningful experiences for those who visit. In every aspect of the operation, Larson Ranch stands as a testament to the enduring value of family, land, and legacy.
Today the ranch continues to grow through diversified operations including:
